Introducing Boston’s SAICA-Endorsed Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting (PGDA)
Boston City Campus announces the launch of its exciting Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting, the next stage to its existing Bachelor of Accounting degree, both of which are endorsed by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA). Boston is a SAICA-endorsed academic provider for the undergraduate degree and postgraduate diploma as the first and second formal milestones on the journey to becoming a CA(SA).
Why choose the Boston PGDA?
If you’re passionate about numbers and solving complex business problems, a career as a professional accountant or, ultimately, a chartered accountant could be your path to purpose and impact. Both of Boston’s qualifications are aligned with the SAICA CA of the Future Competency Framework, which integrates professional, technical, and enabling skills and competencies at the appropriate levels. The new Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting (PGDA) prepares you for the SAICA Initial Assessment of Competence (IAC) examination - your third formal milestone toward finally registering as a Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)).
The Boston PGDip (Accounting), SAQA ID 122741, NQF Level 8, with 120 credits, is a professional qualification that goes beyond mastering advanced and technical accounting; it builds the kind of professional insight, critical thinking, and ethical foundation that defines trusted leaders in commerce, business, and industry.
Why Study Accounting in South Africa?
South Africa’s dynamic business landscape continues to demand skilled professionals who can think analytically, act ethically, and provide constructive advice. This also applies to opportunities within the public sector. With local and international firms seeking qualified Chartered Accountants, the PGDA allows you to join a profession that is respected, globally portable, and essential to financial decision-making, reporting, and value creation.
Whether you aim to become an auditor, tax consultant, financial analyst, or business advisor, this qualification opens the door to multiple career paths across sectors and continents.
Your Pathway to Becoming a Chartered Accountant
The Boston PGDA builds on your undergraduate accounting foundation, a SAICA-endorsed bachelor’s degree, such as the Boston Bachelor of Accounting, and develops your ability to integrate knowledge across all key disciplines at the advanced level.
You’ll engage deeply with complex accounting problems, explore business strategy and governance, and sharpen your analytical and professional judgment—all while preparing for SAICA’s Initial Test of Competence (ITC) examination.
What You’ll Learn in the PGDA
The PGDA builds advanced knowledge in:
- Financial Reporting and Value Creation
- Governance, Assurance and Auditing
- Strategy, Risk, and Management Accounting
- Taxation and Compliance
- Finance and Business Analysis

For those passionate about becoming a professional or Chartered Accountant but who have not yet begun the journey, Boston City Campus offers a clear and flexible pathway to success.
