Networking Technician Short Course
The Networking Technician Short Course provides foundational skills to support and maintain networked environments. It is designed for learners who want to build core knowledge in computer systems, networking fundamentals and infrastructure support.
You gain experience in computer system building and repair, managing small to medium enterprise networks, and configuring routers and switches. The course also introduces Cisco-based networking solutions and the role of networking technicians in workplace environments.
Progression options include external international certification pathways such as CompTIA A+, Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST-N) and the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), subject to the relevant examination requirements.
This programme is offered by Boston City Campus in the distance mode of education with support provided at Learner Support Centres. Apply to register at any Boston City Campus Learner Support Centre nationwide.

*Formative Assessments are undertaken, and the highest grade achieved in Formative Assessment is retained. A maximum of one (1) additional supplementary assessment opportunity is provided for the Summative Assessment, which will be charged for.
**The requirements for completing Cisco supported modules, including hosting learning activities, assessments, and issuing completion certificates, are available on the Cisco Networking Academy platform.
OPTIONAL: Learners may elect to sit for the International CompTIA and Cisco exams, if they wish, in addition to the SLP requirements at Boston City Campus (VUE). These examination fees are excluded but charged at cost. Please note that certification requirements, Module names, and Exam Codes are subject to change, and such changes are at the discretion of CompTIA and Cisco.
Should the learner choose to sit for the two (2) International CompTIA A+ exams, then on successful completion of both, the Learner will be issued an A+ Credential Certificate from CompTIA (Internationally recognised.

On successful completion the Learner will be issued:
- A Boston Short Learning Programme Networking Specialist
- Should the learner choose to sit for the two (2) international CompTIA A+ exams, then on successful completion of both, the Learner will be issued with an A+ Credential Certificate from CompTIA (internationally recognised)
- Should the learner choose to sit for the international CompTIA Network+ exam, then on successful completion, the Learner will be issued with an Network+ Credential Certificate from CompTIA (internationally recognised)
