Software Specialist
If you have a Grade 10 Certificate, National Certificate (Vocational) Level 2, or equivalent qualifications, this Short Learning Programme introduces you to Software Specialisation.
You will develop the ability to operate application packages at all levels. You will be able to operate effectively in the workplace using a number of Windows-based applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation of graphics, and Outlook.
You’ll also enhance your touch-typing skills and be able to move around the net easily, as well as understand and manipulate Windows operating platforms and create, edit, and enhance images.

Entry Requirements
Grade 10 Certificate; or National Certificate (Vocational) Level 2; or equivalent qualification OR Learners can apply for RPL entry into the programme from the Academic Committee at Boston Head Office.
This programme is offered by Boston City Campus in the distance mode of education with support provided at Learner Support Centres. Apply to register at any Boston City Campus Learner Support Centre nationwide or online.
All modules are compulsory and must be passed.
Ito RPL, on successful completion the Learner may apply for admission to an Institute Learning Programme in ICT such as CompTIA or Microsoft, alternatively they may apply for admission to a Boston Short Learning Programme or an Occupational Qualification which either has a Grade 11 Certificate or equivalent qualification as the entry requirement.
Each submission is individually evaluated, hence neither admission nor advanced placement is assured.

*Keyboarding and Typing modules require the Learner to achieve a stipulated word-per-minute (wpm) typing speed (as stipulated for each module) and in some instances require an additional Summative Assessment. Word-per-minute targets are practice-led assessment formats whereby the Learner continues until the required wpm speed is maintained. Where an additional Summative Assessment is prescribed, the final grade is based on the Summative Assessment as well as the attainment of the wpm typing speed requirement. A maximum of 1 (one) additional supplementary assessment opportunity is provided for these Summative Assessments, which will be charged for.
**Formative Assessments are undertaken and the highest grade achieved in Formative Assessment is retained. The final grade is based on the Summative Assessment only.
