Special MTN Data Offer for Boston Students

Terms and Conditions

Please note that data requests will only be sent to MTN every Friday. Due to volumes, requests for data must be completed by Thursday close of business (5pm) each week. Failing to submit the online form by this deadline will result in your request moving to the following week.

Data will be valid for 30 days from the date the bundle is activated on your number.

Please note that you are only allowed to purchase this bundle on your number once during a 30-day cycle, from the date your data is first activated.

If you apply for data again within a 30-day cycle, the data request will be rejected by MTN, in which case you will need to submit a new request once your currently cycle expires.

PLEASE NOTE: You need only request data via this portal on your first/initial application. Once you have successfully received your first data request, you will purchase future bundles via the MTN USSD Portal. See instructions Below.

Procedure for students who HAVE an MTN sim card (first application only)

  • Pay R99 into your Boston Support Centre bank account, using your student number as your reference. (We will not be able to pick up your data payment if you do not use the correct reference)
  • Complete the online form that requires you to login using your @MyBoston.co.za account details. All fields are necessary for a successful data request.

Procedure for students who DO NOT HAVE and MTN sim card (first application only)

  • Purchase and RICA your MTN sim card at any outlet that sells MTN sim cards. Some stores may charge a sim and activation fee.
  • Pay R99 into your Boston Support Centre bank account, using your student number as your reference. (We will not be able to pick up your data payment if you do not use the correct reference)
  • Complete the online form that requires you to login using your @MyBoston.co.za account details. All fields are necessary for a successful data request.

Procedure to login using your @MyBoston.co.za user account:

  • All students are assigned email accounts @myboston.co.za
  • The email address is your student number @myboston.co.za, e.g. 10001@myboston.co.za
  • The email address can be accessed here: https://outlook.com/myboston.co.za or https://login.microsoftonline.com
  • Your password is initially set to you ID/Passport number with an uppercase B before the number, and ! after the number, e.g. B1234567890!
  • As soon as you log in for the first time you will be asked to:
    1. Change your password
    2. Provide a recovery telephone number, and
    3. Set answers to some security questions.

  1. Dial *142# on Mobile Handset
  2. Select Option 2 for Data
  3. Select Option 3 for Monthly
  4. Select Option 1 at R99

  5. Select Option 1 to Buy
  6. Notification will be sent to mobile handset
