Special MTN Data Offer for Boston Students

Terms and Conditions

Please note that data requests will only be sent to MTN every Friday. Due to volumes, requests for data must be completed by Thursday close of business (5pm) each week. Failing to submit the online form by this deadline will result in your request moving to the following week.

Students may purchase data as many times as they would like, and each bundle will be valid for 30 days from the date the bundle is activated on your number.

PLEASE NOTE: You need only request data via this portal on your first/initial application in each new year. MTN removes all students from the USSD system during January of each year, therefore students must do a ‘first application’ in each new year. Once you have successfully received your first data request, you will purchase future bundles in the year via the MTN USSD Portal. See instructions below.

Procedure for students who HAVE an MTN sim card (first application only)

  • Pay R99 into your Boston Support Centre bank account, using your student number as your reference. (We will not be able to pick up your data payment if you do not use the correct reference)
  • Complete the online form that requires you to login using your @MyBoston.co.za account details. All fields are necessary for a successful data request.

Procedure for students who DO NOT HAVE an MTN sim card (first application only)

  • Student pays R99 into their Support Centre bank account.
  • Support Centre will issue student with a MTN sim card.
  • Student must activate the sim card by installing it in the cell phone, thereafter, supply support centre with the cell number assigned to the sim card by 15h00 on Wednesday.
  • RICA will be confirmed with the Support Centre on Thursday
  • Student must complete the online form before 17h00 on Thursday. Login using your @MyBoston.co.za account details. All fields are necessary for a successful data request.

Procedure to login using your @MyBoston.co.za user account:

  • All students are assigned email accounts @myboston.co.za
  • The email address is your student number @myboston.co.za, e.g. 10001@myboston.co.za
  • The email address can be accessed here: https://outlook.com/myboston.co.za or https://login.microsoftonline.com
  • Your password is initially set to you ID/Passport number with an uppercase B before the number, and ! after the number, e.g. B1234567890!
  • As soon as you log in for the first time you will be asked to:
    1. Change your password
    2. Provide a recovery telephone number, and
    3. Set answers to some security questions.

  1. Dial *142# on Mobile Handset
  2. Select Option 2 for Data
  3. Select Option 3 for Monthly
  4. Select Option 1 at R99
