Leading the programme is Professor Cobus Oosthuizen, Dean of Postgraduate Studies and Extraordinary Associate Professor with NWU Business School. “Our faculty represents the intersection of academic excellence and practical wisdom,” says Professor Oosthuizen, whose research focuses on leadership cognition and peak performance. “We’re not just teaching business; we’re cultivating the intellectual character needed to navigate today’s complex business landscape.”
Dr Jane Usher, Programme Coordinator for the MBA with over 24 years in education, brings expertise in personal, interpersonal, and professional leadership. “Our approach goes beyond traditional business education,” notes Dr Usher. “We’re developing leaders who can drive meaningful change while maintaining strong ethical foundations.” Her research on women in business and workplace dynamics adds valuable perspective to the programme.

- Dr Larysa Botha, a registered Psychometrist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa, leads the innovative Management Philosophy and Corporate Governance modules, bringing unique insights from her diverse background in manufacturing, property development, and financial services.
- Dr Ophelia Veldkornet contributes a decade of industry experience across FMCG and retail sectors, specialising in creating inclusive organisational cultures and driving transformation.
- Dr Mercy Musakwa brings 25 years of industry and academic experience, with extensive publications in development economics and a passion for resource optimisation at individual and national levels.
- Dr. Channel Zhou is an Information Systems academic, researcher, and higher education professional with expertise in digital governance, digital transformation, ICT for Development (ICT4D), responsible data, and artificial intelligence. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Information Systems from Rhodes University, a Master of Science in Computing from the University of South Africa (UNISA), and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Information Systems from Midlands State University, Zimbabwe. Dr Zhou serves as an educator and researcher in the MBA programme, with extensive experience in higher education teaching, curriculum development, student supervision, and academic research. His research focuses on the intersection of technology, governance, and society, with particular emphasis on responsible data implementation, digital citizen engagement, AI governance, and public sector digital transformation in Southern Africa. He has published in peer-reviewed journals and actively contributes to interdisciplinary research addressing technology-enabled social development. Committed to academic excellence and impactful scholarship, Dr Zhou combines teaching, research, and community engagement to advance knowledge and inform policy and practice in Information Systems and digital governance.
- Morne Kermis qualified as a CA(SA) in 2001. He has held various positions in the auditing industry over the past 25 years with organisations such as Nkonki Sizwe Ntsaluba Inc, The Coca-Cola Company, and the Auditor-General of South Africa. Morne also has extensive experience in lecturing and training, gained through work at the University of Stellenbosch and other institutions. He joined Boston City Campus in 2023 from previous consulting assignments within the Department of Education. He has held positions in both the private and public sectors and has also served on committees of SAICA and IRBA. Morne is passionate about education and assisting students to reach their potential.
- Michael Schoeman is an academic and business professional with more than 18 years of experience in higher education, retail management, entrepreneurship and research. His teaching and research interests include entrepreneurship, innovation, leadership, retail management and digital transformation. Stanley holds an MBA from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology and is completing a PhD in Management and Entrepreneurship at the University of the Western Cape. He has published research on retail performance, academic entrepreneurship, and knowledge creation, and brings substantial industry experience in operations, sales strategy, and customer service to his academic work.
- Stanley Nhamoinesu brings 19 years of higher education, industry, and marketplace expertise, specialising in innovation entrepreneurship, student entrepreneurship, the start-up ecosystem, and artificial intelligence. He has presented at local and international conferences, including SANORD, and has published several scholarly works.

- Nicolette Brouwer, CA(SA), brings twenty years of finance education experience from institutions including UNISA and Rhodes University, championing “Finance with Heart” as a transformative business approach.
- Dr Mandisa “Mandi” Mankayi contributes over 20 years of experience in leadership development and community empowerment, inspiring authentic leadership through her dynamic facilitation and coaching philosophy.
- Dr Requier Wait combines academic expertise with international consulting experience across multiple continents, hosting the “Wait & Speak” podcast that unravels insights on strategy, economics, and entrepreneurship.
- Professor Teresa “Terri” Carmichael is a Visiting Associate Professor of Management Education at Wits Business School, University of the Witwatersrand. She holds a PhD from Wits University and a Master of Management in Human Resources, awarded with distinction. Her teaching and research focus on research methodology, qualitative research, grounded theory, management education, executive coaching and entrepreneurship. She has extensive experience supervising postgraduate research and has guided numerous PhD and master’s candidates to completion. Her scholarship includes journal articles, book chapters and international conference papers, often co-authored with postgraduate students. Before entering academia, she held senior roles in the pharmaceutical and human resources sectors, bringing substantial industry experience to her teaching, supervision and academic leadership.
- Dr Jacques van Zyl is an organisational psychologist, management consultant, lecturer and research supervisor with more than three decades of experience in organisational development, leadership, governance, ethics and human-capital management. He holds a Doctorate in Psychology, as well as master’s and bachelor’s qualifications in educational psychology, commerce and education. He has taught subjects including managerial economics, organisational behaviour, leadership, business ethics, change management and qualitative research methodology from undergraduate to MBA level. Dr van Zyl has supervised and assessed MBA, master’s and doctoral research across several institutions. He is also a co-founder and director of AssessmentWorld, where he contributes to the development of competency assessments, organisational surveys, job-grading systems and performance-appraisal tools. His research interests include psychometrics, organisational culture, employee well-being and human-capital measurement.
- Professor Anish Kurien is a Full Professor of Electrical Engineering at Tshwane University of Technology and Acting Director of the TUT Hub of the Artificial Intelligence Institute of South Africa. He also serves as Director of the F’SATI TUT node, where he leads postgraduate programmes, international partnerships and research collaboration. He holds a joint doctorate in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Tshwane University of Technology and Université Paris-Est. His research focuses on artificial intelligence, telecommunications, 5G and 6G networks, the Internet of Things, smart infrastructure and wireless communication systems. Professor Kurien has led numerous industry- and government-funded research initiatives, supervised postgraduate students, and published extensively in international journals and conference proceedings.
- Dr Frances Wright is an operations management specialist, business consultant and executive with extensive experience in organisational growth, process improvement and operational transformation. She holds a PhD in Business Administration and an MBA from North-West University, together with several qualifications in industrial technology, project management and operations management, many awarded with distinction. Her career has included senior leadership and consulting roles across the private and public sectors, as well as lecturing MBA students in operations management. She has led major business-reengineering initiatives involving quality systems, logistics, human resources, finance, marketing and enterprise systems. Dr Wright is also an experienced entrepreneur, mentor, coach and public speaker, and has received several awards for academic achievement, business growth and entrepreneurial leadership.
- Dr Thandekile Madikane is a marketing, business development and sustainability professional with extensive experience across African markets. He currently serves as Distributor Sales Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa at BP and leads the organisation’s Sub-Saharan Sustainability Chapter. His expertise includes strategic marketing, distributor development, technical training, market expansion and sustainability-led growth. Dr. Madikane also teaches strategic marketing, strategic management, and advanced digital marketing at postgraduate and MBA levels, and has supervised and examined MBA research. He holds a Doctor of Business Administration from Paris School of Business, awarded with distinction, as well as a Master of Management and a BCom in Marketing and Advanced Management from the University of the Witwatersrand. His research focuses on Africa’s energy transition and carbon neutrality.
