Shape the Future of Business Communication

Business Communication

Boston City Campus is addressing South Africa’s growing demand for skilled commerce communication professionals with its Bachelor of Commerce in Strategic Communication.

This qualification is designed to bridge the country’s skills gap in business communication, equipping graduates for careers in marketing, corporate communication, media strategy, and digital branding. The programme also provides a solid foundation for further studies, including honours degrees or postgraduate diplomas.

With only 202,000 spots available in public institutions despite record-breaking 2024 National Senior Certificate (NSC) results, many matriculants face limited higher education options. The Bachelor of Commerce in Strategic Communication not only develops critical strategic communication and business skills but also offers an accessible alternative to South Africa’s university placement crisis.

Dr. Hendrik Botha, Head of Institution at Boston City Campus, emphasizes the institution’s commitment to expanding access to quality education through accredited distance learning. Unlike public universities, Boston does not impose additional admission criteria beyond the standard NSC with endorsement, ensuring that more students have the opportunity to enroll. Its flexible e-learning model allows students to study at their own pace while receiving structured academic support.

Boston City Campus is the first South African institution accredited by the prestigious Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) in the USA, for its core business qualifications. It also holds accreditation from the British Accreditation Council (BAC), UK and is a member of the Association of African Universities (AAU). The degree itself is accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE) and registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) and the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA), ensuring both national and global recognition.

For students who do not meet direct entry requirements, Boston offers pathway programmes through its Higher Certificate in Advertising and Integrated Communication Practice and Marketing Practice, which allow for advanced placement into the degree programme.

Prospective students can apply online, visit one of Boston’s 47 Support Centres nationwide, or contact the National Call Centre at 011-551 2000 for assistance.
