In partnership with South Africa’s largest independent dance record label Soul Candi Boston City Campus brings you this entry-level post-school occupational qualification which integrates marketing and digital music, providing a distinctly unique opportunity for you to be equipped with the knowledge and skills required to be a Marketing Practitioner in the digital music industry.
By studying this qualification, you will gain an understanding of marketing and integrated communication practice as well as music genres and styles and their influence on the DJ and music industry. You’ll also develop a working knowledge of the business elements of the music industry, preparing you for exciting career opportunities in the fields of marketing and digital music. This qualification is accredited by the SABPP and is also a stepping stone into a Boston Diploma or Degree.

Entry Requirements
National Senior Certificate (NSC); or National Certificate (Vocational) (NC(V)) 4; or prior to 2009, Senior Certificate; or Further Education and Training (FET) Certificate; or equivalent qualification.
This programme is offered by Boston City Campus in the distance mode of education with support provided at Learner Support Centres. Apply to register at any Boston City Campus Learner Support Centre nationwide.
All modules are compulsory and must be passed.

*Assessment Strategy C (ASC): Formative assessments (FA1 and FA2), also known as quizzes, will count fifty percent (50%) – twenty five percent (25%) each – towards the overall mark. A summative assessment in the form of a final exam (SA1), will count fifty percent (50%) towards the overall mark.
**Assessment Strategy 2 (AS2): The formative assessment (FA1), also known as an assignment or test, will count fifty percent (50%) towards the overall mark. The summative assessment in the form of a final exam or capstone project (SA1), will count fifty percent (50%).
***Assessment Strategy W (ASW): Formative assessments (FA1 and FA2), also known as assignments, will count forty percent (40%) – twenty percent (20%) each – towards the overall mark. Summative assessments in the form of a practicum, will count forty percent (40%), and a research or reflective essay (SA2) will count twenty percent (20%) towards the overall mark.
On completion of the programme, graduates will have the necessary knowledge and practical skills required to:
- Operate effectively in the workplace using a number of Windows-based end-user applications
- Apply principles of marketing and integrated communication practice to real life situations
- Analyse market research and sales data
- Demonstrate an understanding of musical genres and styles and their influence on the DJ / music industry
- Understand the basics of music composition with a focus on modern and electronic styles
- Demonstrate working knowledge of the business elements of the music industry

OCCUPATIONAL QUALIFICATION
Boston will apply, on behalf of the Learner, to the SABPP for verification of the Learner’s results. On successful verification the Learner will be issued a Higher Certificate: Marketing (specialisation Digital Music) SAQA ID 21086, NQF Level 5, 160 credits from SABPP.
