Why did you choose this career?Β 

I chose a career in Information Technology because of my passion for technology and my strong interest in computers, software, and technology. The attractive salaries and benefits in the IT industry were also a significant motivator.

What are you studying as your formal training at Boston City Campus?Β 

IΒ completedΒ a Diploma in Network Systems at Boston. The certification that I also obtained from Boston has been invaluable in my career.

What does your job entail?Β 

As a computer technician in IT, my job involves diagnosing and resolvingΒ hardware and software issues, maintaining IT systems, and providing technical support to ensure efficient and reliable operation for users.

Describe an average day?

An average day starts with checking emails and prioritizing tasks for the day. I review any outstanding issues or tickets from the previous day, diagnose problems through remote access or by visiting users' workstations, and address any user questions or concerns related to Information Technology systems.

In one sentence, describe your job?

As a computer technician in IT, my job involves diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues, maintaining IT systems, and providing technical support to ensure efficient and reliable operation for users.

What type of personality would enjoy this kind of career?

A person who is a problem-solver, enjoys continuous learning and technological challenges, and possesses strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate technical information to users would enjoy this career.

What challenges have you had to overcome?

How do you manage studying and working? Some of the challenges include dealing with frustrated users and tight deadlines.

Effective time management is crucial; I prioritize tasks based on urgency and importance, set achievable goals, and allocate dedicated study periods in my schedule.

What advice would you give grade 11 and 12 learners considering a career in Information Technology?

Seek internships or volunteering: Acquire practical experience through internships, volunteer opportunities, or part-time jobs in IT department
 Network: Build professional relationships by connecting with IT professionals, joining IT-related clubs or organizations.

Is continuing education and further studies important in your type of career?

Yes, continuing education is essential in the IT field because it evolves rapidly, introducing new technologies, software, and hardware regularly. Ongoing learning ensures that IT professionals can stay updated and proficient in current trends and practices, leveraging the latest advancements effectively.

What is your experience at Boston like? Would you recommend the campus and the institution?

My experience at Boston has been very positive. They provide internationally recognized certificates that companies value. I highly recommend pursuing certification through Boston as they offer top-quality study materials. Personally, I believe I was employed because of the certification I obtained from Boston.
